Chennai Metro’s Yellow Line, or Corridor 4, is part of the Phase II network. Its operational stretch connects Poonamallee Bypass with Vadapalani through Porur Junction, covering approximately 15 km and serving 11 elevated stations. The full corridor is planned to connect Poonamallee Bypass with Lighthouse.

Chennai Metro Yellow Line timings will change from Friday, October 23, 2026,

➡ with the first trains starting at 🕕 6 am instead of 7 am.

CMRL announced the earlier start following feedback from commuters seeking better morning connectivity.

Operating Stations Between Poonamallee and Vadapalani

The Yellow Line currently serves 11 stations: Poonamallee Bypass, Poonamallee Bus Stand, Poonamallee Government Hospital, Karayanchavadi, Kumananchavadi, Kattupakkam, Iyyappanthangal, Thelliyaragaram, Porur Bypass, Porur Junction and Vadapalani. Trains run directly between Porur Junction and Vadapalani without stopping at the six intermediate stations, which are yet to open.

All 11 operating stations between Poonamallee Bypass and Vadapalani are elevated,

The Poonamallee Bypass–Vadapalani Yellow Line recorded 25,474 passenger journeys on October 11, 2026, during its first five hours of service, from 4 pm to 9 pm.

Yellow Line’s Original Timings

The Poonamallee Bypass–Vadapalani stretch opened on October 11, 2026, with passenger services beginning at 4 pm on inauguration day.

🕖 Initially the regular operating schedule was 7 am to 9 pm.

No Change in Train Intervals

The revised schedule brings the first service forward by one hour. Train intervals remain unchanged, and the last trains will continue to depart from both Poonamallee Bypass and Vadapalani at 9 pm.

Monday to Saturday

Sundays and Public Holidays

Trains will operate every 15 minutes from 6 am to 9 pm, without a separate peak-hour schedule.

The 9 pm timing refers to the last departure from each terminal. The last train’s arrival time at intermediate stations will depend on its journey along the route.

Earlier Travel Option for Commuters

The additional morning hour provides an earlier Metro option for passengers travelling between Poonamallee, Porur and Vadapalani. Those boarding between 6 am and 8 am should plan for a 15-minute interval between trains.
